Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1.About the Studio
  • Where is CAD located?

Our dance studio can be found at 952 Orange Avenue in beautiful downtown Coronado, California. Our entrance is in the alley behind Panera and Starbucks. You'll know it's us when you see a peach-colored brick building with a large sign reading "Coronado Academy of Dance."

We are only a short walk from the beach, the historic Hotel del Coronado, and other iconic Coronado destinations!

  • When are classes offered?

To view our class schedule, visit the SCHEDULE page at the top of our website. To register your dancer in classes, visit DANCE ENROLLMENT.

  • Where can I find class descriptions?

For a description of each of the classes we offer, visit CLASS DESCRIPTIONS AND DRESS CODE.

  • How many recitals do you have each year?

Generally we present two recitals each year: one in the winter at the end of the fall term (often held at Coronado Middle School’s Granzer Hall stage), and one in the spring at the end of the spring term (usually held at Coronado High School’s Coronado Performing Arts Center, which seats 570). Recitals offer our students the exciting opportunity to present what they have learned to their family and friends in costume and on stage.

  • When do ballet students begin pointe training?

Introduction to pointe work is always at the discretion of the ballet instructor and the Director. Great care is taken to ensure that dancers have sufficient strength, technique, and maturity before beginning their training en pointe.

  • How do I schedule private lessons with an instructor?

Because private lesson availability depends on the personal schedule of each instructor, please contact our office to determine what days and times may work best for your needs.

  • How much does tuition cost?

At CAD, we pride ourselves on offering competitive tuition rates that make dance affordable for your family. Please visit our TUITION AND POLICIES page for more information.

  • Can I try a class out before enrolling?

Absolutely! At CAD, the first trial class of any style or level is always free. We encourage students considering joining the studio for the first time or looking to try a new style to come in and see whether a given class is a good fit for them.

  • What should I wear to class?

Please view class uniform outlines for each style of dance under CLASS DESCRIPTIONS AND DRESS CODE.

  • Can I watch my student take class?

We offer a convenient viewing loft for families and friends to observe class in the studio space below. Guests are welcome to sit and watch class there, as well as from the waiting room/lobby area.

  • What amenities does the studio offer?

Our academy includes one class studio, a waiting room, viewing loft, vending machines (snack and drink), and one gender-neutral bathroom with toilet and sink.

  • Are students allowed to bring cellphones?

Students are encouraged to bring a cellphone with them in their bags to contact their families in case of emergency or unexpected class cancellation. Cellphones and other electronics are never allowed within the class studio area, however, and all ringers should be silenced when entering the studio.
